Chokie in KL

Chokie monkie has taken a surprise trip out of the country! Chokie is now in truly Asia- Malaysia. Chokie monkie took a surprise trip to visit old friends who are residing in Penang. But as part of Chokie Monkie exciting adventure, how can he miss out the capital city of Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur.

Upon Arriving into LCCT, which is Malaysia budget terminal. I was quickly whisked away and found myself boarding a bus, which lead me to a train Station. Woot Woot! I’m so excited that I can hardly contain it! It was my first time taking such HIGH SPEED train. They call it the fast train! Soon in no time, I arrived into KL SENTRAL.

I met up with my old friends at KLCC, the magnificent twin towers! See how I scale the building. BOY! Do I look like KING KONG, the mini version!
My friends suggested that we should head up to this sky top bar at Traders hotel KL and boy were my friend right!

I was utterly speechless and in awe as I walked about the SKY Bar. Its backdrop was the twin towers and surrounding the bar was a beautiful pool. Man! It was totally awesome!

Soon it was time for great food, and my friends drove to Chinatown and we had KL famous BA KUT TEH. If you are wondering what the hell is that, its actually Pork Rib Boiled with Chinese Herbs. This dish normally finishes of with a cup of Chinese tea.

After dinner, we took a nice stroll around the night market of Chinatown. They are lots of stuff to buy and see, just remember to bargain your way around.

It was time to go. We need to ensure we had enough time to drive back to Penang.

I was really sad, because there are still lots more things to talk about in KL. But I somewhat got a feeling that I will be back here again!

Review- Koh Samui

Koh Samui, the beautiful island is the 3rd largest Thai island. According to the evidence found on Koh Samui Island, historians believed that it was first inhabited by man at most 1,200 years ago. It was only in the early 1970's that Koh Samui became a dream destination discovered by backpackers. Today tourists from the whole world visit this easy going paradise.

Located in the Gulf of thailand in the South China Sea it's area is about 247km2 and about 700km south of Bangkok. There are 10 lovely beaches located on this island and each has its down dynamic personality.

1. Chaweng - Chaweng is the longest and most popular beach on Samui. Its is also the largest tourist centre with ore than 1.5 million travelers visiting annually. Five- star luxury resorts share the space with more economical accommodation choices, along with a five km street of stalls and shops that sell everything thailand is famous for. Prices are a little higher here than in other areas of the island, but the range of choices in food, accommodation and entertainment is impressive, making this beach its surroundings, the centre of activity for many visitors

2. Lamai - Lamai has often been referred to as Samui's second beach, but there are many who believe it has a greater beuaty than that of Chaweng. The waters are excellent for swimming and the beaches and streets are less crowded. The southern end of the bay features elegant granite boulders while the breach itself seems endless. The nightlife in Lamai hosts some excellent restaurants and bars scattered along it strip. THe surrounding area notably hosts some of the island's best spas and health resorts available. if you wander off the beaten track here, you will get a glimpse of some true Thai Culture.

3. Big Buddha Beach - If your stay is brief, the Big Buddha Beach area offers convenience due to it close proximity to the airport, as well as to boats chartered for Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Tao. Prices for accommodation and provisions remain reasonanle and there is a growing number of fine dinning options to complement the local Thai restaurant and beach bungalow cuisine. Facilities and services are abundant along the main road, making this one of the best locations for a vibrant night life.

4. Mae Name- This beach is the shape of a huge horseshoe, featuring soft sand that offers a spectacular view of the neighboursing island of Koh Pha-Ngan. There is a number of good local restaurant and businesses along the beach, as well as on the main ring road.

5. Bo Phut- Bo Phut stands out as one of the few villages on Samui that exudes authentic island charm. It consists of a single street lined with traditional shop-houses, many of which have been converted into restaurants, modern shops and guesthouse. The distinct designs of the beachside dining sector, as well as the chosen cuisine that is available, have creates an exceptional international and Thai atmosphere. Despite its growth, the essential seaside appeal remains, making it one of the island's most attractive locations.

6. Lipa Noi and Taling Ngam - The unspoiled south- west coast of Taling Ngam and Lipa Noi has seen the least change of any area on the island. The Romantic coastline here overlooks the spectacular Five islands and Angthong National Marine Park. Several excellent beachside seafood restaurants, bungalows and resorts can be found scattered along the coast, offering the most idyllic locations to watch the sun getting into the sea. Palms come right down to the water's edge, dense greenery right up to the sands, providing an incredible swimming experiences.

7. Hua Thanon - The Muslim fishing village of Hua Thanon offers a handful of seafood restaurants, but it main attraction lies in the ancient culture of the local fisherman. Intricately painted wooden boats are still used to this day to catch and deliver fish directly to the local markets. Take a troll through its market and capture a glimpse into the lives of one of the island's original communities.

8. Nathon - This is the island's main administrative centre. It also boasts a number of original teak shop housing lining the quiet middle road, showing the more traditional Chinese influenced Samui life. A night food market establishes itself here, giving visitors their first taste of the delights available on Samui.

9. Choeng Mon - Choeng Mon is made up a series of bays speckled with white sandy beaches upon its coastline. Despite its close proximity to Chaweng, which is about 15 minutes north and 5 minutes from Big Buddha, the beaches have remained quiet and the waters clean. Choeng Mon's Wide sandy beaches features a rock formation on one side, and an island, which you can easily paddle out to, on the other. This is a family friendly area, with exclusive resorts abundantly situated along the water's edge.

10. Bang Rak - This area has become home to some of the most driven entrepreneurs, leaders of business and tourism operators that have inhabited the island. The preservation of the ancient village character has been kept a priority and as the name Bang Rak translates into " THE VILLAGE OF LOVE" in the Thai Language, so had the charm been reserved that this village resonates. Harbour and home for many of the island's yachting members, including the speedboat charters and touing veseels that make their way to the neighbouring islands, this is where you can find day charters to all-inclusive excursions around Samui and beyond.

Second day – Brand new hotel

In the afternoon, I was whisked away to a hidden beach of the next hotel. Melati Beach Resort and Spa was its name. When I arrived, the pretty guest-relations ladies placed nice smelling garlands of flowers on me. I feel so pretty! Thus I decided to take a photo with the nice ladies at the front desk.

Soon I was running and playing around the estate! And it was time for lunch! There was only one restaurant made available and not much of an option thus settled for some green curry!

Boy! Was today a hot day! I was sweating like crazy and my nice short-coated fur got so wet I needed a shower! But nonetheless, there was a nice pool for me to chill and relax.

Melati estate is such a relaxing place, and did I tell you about me crib? It has an outdoor tub! WOOHOO!! People can see my sexy little body and I must say.. I am quite a hit with the ladies!

Time for dinner, stranded back at the estate thus decided to go for their Thai buffet. Chokie was not very impressed tho.

Time to sign out and get ready for a night’s rest! Tomorrow I am coming home and I will let you know what’s me Chokie’s Verdict for KOH SAMUI.

Arrival at KOH SAMUI

Sawasdee Krap,

I am sooo excited, I’ve just arrived in KOH SAMUI, this idyllic little island. My Flight here from Singapore was rather an enjoyable one. I got ready for this by bring my little straw hat and boy was a hit!

The stewardess welcome me onboard BANGKOK AIRWAYS with a great big smile and asked for my boarding pass. They showed me my seat and told me that I have to buckle down for the flight. Soon I am in the air, and they served me air-food and it was quite delicious!

Upon the arrival at the airport, I was pleasantly surprised that it looked more like a resort than a traditional immigration office. Once I cleared the immigration, I hurried up to the meeting and awaited for my ride to arrive. I made my first friend in KOH SAMUI and his name is OAT. He is such a sweet guy and gave me directions to where the ride was waiting for me.

In no time, my ride arrived and we arrived at CHAWENG REGENT. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. I am currently in their premium room and I will give you full update once I have seen more of their estate tomorrow. Now I will go out to their city for a night walk and update you all their exciting places to visit, great bargain hunts and great places to eat!
Stay Tune Ya..

Impromptu Road Trip To Johor Bahru

Ring Ring....

My pal, Patrick called and he said he wanted to go to Johor Bahru for dinner! This is my first adventurous trip out to malaysia and know not what to expect!

But before the trip started, i was feeling hungry and decided to wait for Patrick at Ya Kun and have a quick bite before he come swishing down in his SLK .

Upon arriving at Johor Bahru, I was taken aback to it surroundings and it's kinda backward housings and roads. It's so different from what I am accustomed too. But being the adventurous me, i decided to venture into the unknown!

Johor Bahru, a border town but filled with lots of unexpected surprises. Along the coastal lines where Singapore is just across we headed down to DANGA BAY. DANGA BAY is just like our EAST COAST PARK in singapore but with lots more eateries and an amusement park. I must say, if i have a girlfriend, i would bring her down to DANGA BAY for a nice evening stroll by the beach.

There were too many shopping centers in Johor Bahru, from the famous, CITY SQUARE, HOLIDAY INN PLAZA, to Huge mega malls like JUSCO and TESCO down the road and not forgetting PANDAN CITY for all quirky little cheap buys. There were lots thai massage centers too! From the famous Thai Odyssey to the ones which are clean but yet provides abit of dodgy business too ( Amazing Thai Massage)

Finally it time for dinner and we headed down to TAMAN SENTOSA at this restaurant called SEE HAI 101 and had delicious chicken wings and prawns! Yummy Yummy....

Patrick said that he was still hungry and thus we headed down to Jln Data Abdullah Tahir for some street food called LOK LOK, in which you cook the food in a pot full of hot water and dip the tasty little foodies in different sauces. It was so exciting... never had food that way before.

I was so full after all the eating that I collapse in exhaustion from eating! Looking at the time, it was time to bid Johor Good night as tomorrow, i will be off to KOH SAMUI . I will be at beach resort resting my little feet!
